Seems to be worth the upgrade over older designs,
"My 6 year-old tried the new Close Contact Kids Rashguard this morning during his competition class. They did multiple rounds of intense no-gi sparring in preparation for the ADCCs, so he was able to get a great feel for the item. We also own the Ranked Rashguard. After trying them out back-to-back, my son preferred the newer design. After sparring, he said the vented pockets underneath the armpit area helped keep him cool, and that was the main reason for this purchase. Like me, my son sweats a whole lot. He's started to complain about how uncomfortable it can be for him to train in his competition gi in our hot gym. I think this will be an excellent way to keep him cooler in the gi. He said the fit was perfect. It does seem to be slightly wider through the waistline. It looked a bit looser on him than the other GB rashguard. My son is narrow-waisted and doesn't carry around a lot of extra heft. I prefer the look of the athletically-fitted color rank guard on my son, but bigger kids will definitely appreciate the extra space to breathe. The raglan sleeve appears to allow a bit more range of motion, contributing to my son's preference for its fit. The biggest difference he noticed, however, was the cooling comfort of the ventilated design. I'm really glad I bought this item, and I think it will meet our training goals. I just wished this design came in color-ranks to acknowledge his hard work as his technique and experience grow."
